"5 Second of Summer": Pop Punk Like Boyband?

SECONDS OF SUMMER or 5SOS is a band from Australia. They were the opening band at TAKE ME HOME TOUR (2013) and 'Where We Are Tour (2014) with ONE DIRECTION. This band genre is POP-ROCK, POP-PUNK. The Australian pop punk quartet held a concert in Indonesia, on March 2016, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, BSD, South Tangerang. The band is strengthened by Luke Hemmings (vocal / guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar / vocal), Calum Hood (bass / vocal), and Ashton Irwin (drum / vocal. This group was originally a Youtube celebrity, they like to cover musician songs the world through their YouTube channel, until finally they can attract interest from major music labels.

The band is inhabited by Luke Hemmings (vocals), Michael Clifford (guitar, vocals), Calum Hood (bass, vocals) and Ashton Irwin (drums).

Calum Thomas Hood or commonly called Calum or Cal, People can think that Calum has Asian ancestry even though he has no Asian ancestry at all but Scotland and Kiwi.

Luke Robert Hemmings or commonly called Luke or Lucas, Luke is the youngest personnel in 5 Seconds of Summer.

Michael Gordon Clifford or commonly called Michael or Mike, Michael is the member who likes to dye his hair the most. 

The Australian band also did not include any 'gimmicks', just flowing like the work of its seniors. Which is unique from this band, 5SOS songs are songs created by 5SOS personnel themselves. The personnel who wrote the most songs were Calum and Luke. Admittedly, their music can make the listener's head sway to the beat. However, one thing that makes 5SoS different from other similar bands. Their voices do not reflect the names of poppunk musicians like simple plan, blink and others. Many people think 5SoS feels more boyband, especially when looking at the appearance styles of Luke, Michael, Calum and Ashton. There is nothing wrong with their appearance, instead they refer to their character from his appearance. Many teenagers who follow their fashion performances. Like pop punk kids they often wear tight black jeans. And their appearance is not accompanied by dance moves like the general boy band. Every appearance, he always shows their unique actions from the music instruments they play. Maybe they were called boyband at the beginning because the fame of the 5SOS band began to be famous when the rise of Korean boy bands was also being trending. Because their personnel are all men.

Australian pop punk bands are often labeled as boy bands by some because of their music and performances. However, this matter was not bothered by the quartet. Their latest song, She's Kinda Hot is also the answer to all these criticisms.

On the first five songs, 'She's Looks So Perfect', 'Don't Stop', 'Good Girls', 'Kiss Me Kiss Me', '18', 5SoS gave that pop punk sound. Through the distinctive distortion of the guitar, the beat of the drum and of course teenage lyrics are light about the spirit of life and romance. Of course this is not found in boyband. The thing that made this band different from the others was that all the personnel became vocalists besides playing musical instruments such as guitars, drums and bass.

Seven more recently, then 5SoS played with the stairs. There are 'Beside You' and 'Heartbreak Girl' which are a little more melancholic with acoustic guitars and lyrics. Another song is 'English Love Affair', 5SoS featuring pop rock music combined with electronic elements. Not as usual, but Luke Hemmings Cs also put on unusual beats. Making the song sound more dynamic. In the last song, 'Amnesia', 5SoS returned to playing casually. With piano and acoustic guitar, they close the album sweetly. this in my opinion is a 5SoS mainstay song because this song makes the listeners goose bumps when listening to it and makes the hearts of women melt. So, 5SoS is not a boy band, but 5SoS is a multi-talented band. there are many abilities that they show in each of their performances. from the rhythm of each song 5SoS is very different from boyband.
