Not long ago stepping up his career in the world of singing, Devano Danendra was hit by bad news. The son of Iis Dahlia was accused of plagiarism. His latest song, "Ini Aku" was mentioned similar to the song "April" owned by Fiersa Besari which was released in 2013 ago. Many netizens suspect that the song has many similarities, both lyrics and tone. Through its Instagram stories, Fiersa also recognizes the similarities between the two songs.

According to Fiersa, not Devano should be held accountable for this but the songwriter. And this incident becomes learning for the Devano before leveling up as a big star. Devano Danendra and Fiersa had communicated with each other. The son of Iis Dahlia also expressed his apology to Fiersa. It did not take long, the parties from Devano and Fiersa met each other. Until finally the youngest son of dangdut singer Iis Dahlia confirmed the problem with Fiersa was over. He also denied that there had been plagiarism in the single that was made as the original soundtrack of the Dear Nathan Hello Salma film and admitted that the creator of the song Aku Aku, Pika Iskandar was indeed inspired by Fiersa.

According to Devano, after a direct dialogue between the songwriter "Ini Aku", Pika Iskandar, with Fiersa, it was discovered that there were indeed similarities between the two songs. However, only in three bars. While a number of musicians and music observers argue that a new song can be said to imitate or copy another song if it has similarities to 8 bars.

In other hand, Robert C. Osterberg and Eric C. Osterberg in his book "Substantial Similarity in Copyright Law" stated that, "Substantial similarity in music can be found through examination of various large elements including melody, harmony, rhythm, pitch, tempo, phrases, timbre, tone, spatial organization, consonant, dissonance, accent, basslines, sound new technology and overall structure". From this description it is clear that to identify a song's plagiarism is not as easy as imagined and not as simple as just stating the size of 8 bars.

From this case, hopefully Devano in the future will be more careful in taking a project so that it does not happen again. Because in addition to being bullied by the other effects of this case is the reduced interest of music lovers to listen to the song, although it is not too significant. Also makes people become underestimate Devano in terms of music and that will have an impact on his career later.

Of course this case of plagiarism is still being debated until now, because music only has seven scales right? It is also not wrong if there are some people then consider it reasonable if there is a similarity in a musical arrangement. It is a problem, a classic problem that cannot be separated from the creative industry. Apart from the two problems, plagiarism is not justified. It is better if we include the name of the original owner of a work that we quoted or do not hesitate to provide clarification as done by Devano and Fiersa to avoid unwanted problems in the future.
